Science Pre-Teaching Task: What if... all of the water in the world disappeared?

At the beginning of each unit of work, the children complete a pre-teaching task (P.T.T.). This helps the class teacher to inform their planning, to ensure the needs of all children is being met.
Take a look at the children's responses in our class, to the question, 'What if all of the water in the world disappeared?'

Harriet: People wouldn't be able to have a drink anywhere, or wash.

Ewan: No-one would be able to drink and they would be ill and dehydrated all the time.

Lacey: I would be sad because I wouldn't be able to swim anymore and I wouldn't be able to have a drink or wash.

Richard: We wouldn't have anything to drink and we would die.

Lillie: We would have to find fruit to make juice because we wouldn't have anything to drink.

Sophie: We wouldn't be able to drink, have a bath or clean yourself. The ducks won't be able to swim in the pond.

Lewis: All the fish would die. Everyone would be thirsty.

Ellis: You would have no water to drink and you would not be able to be clean.

Amelia: Water is one of the most important things you need to stay alive, so we wouldn't survive.

Louisa: We would have to get nutrients from the plants to survive.

Morgan: There would be no fish to eat, and there would be no life under the sea and whales would be stranded.

Aaron: You would dehydrate and die. You can't have showers or bath.

Amelie: I would be thirsty and the animals would be too.

Megan: People would get dehydrated and not have any fluids. If the plants and trees die we won't have oxygen and we won't have vegetables.

Lewis: We wouldn't be able to drink, and it would be bad for the animals and their habitats and it could kill us.

Lillie: Everyone would die and there would be no animals left.
Millie: We wouldn't be able to live because we need it to survive.

Leah: You wouldn't have any plants, food or living creatures and nothing to drink.

Connor: There will be no drinks and everyone could die.

Kyle: You would get thirsty and dehydrated. You can't go sailing or swimming and the animals can't have a drink. People can't draw the sunsets on the sea.

Daniel: The animals that live under the water wouldn't survive and we would be able to walk to other countries. It wouldn't be fun at the beach because the tide wouldn't come in or go out.

Joe: Everyone wouldn't be able to survive.

Charley: We would die.

Tegan: We would die of thirst and we wouldn't have any sea creatures.

Oliver: All the plants would be dehydrated, there'll be no grass just mud and we wouldn't survive.

Tyler: We wouldn't survive and we couldn't wash ourselves.
Sam: We wouldn't be able to drink and we would all die. Some animals wouldn't have anywhere to live.

Rihards: We would die because a person needs water. The sea animals would die beacuse they can't breathe and everyone and everything would die.

Amelia: The world would be dried out and no-one could survive.

Scarlett: We wouldn't have any nature and we wouldn't survive. There wouldn't be any bugs.
