Finding Places in The World

Today, while some children were deciding on what questions they might ask an Ancient Greek warrior, we worked on our mapping skills, matching magnetic pieces to a World map.

The pieces had interesting information on them, including pictures (which told you about the terrain or ground and people) along with capital cities and the names of the continents themselves.

Here’s some of our learning:

I think that parts of Chile might be chilli as there’s a pictures of a penguin there. (Joe)

Siberia is at the top of Russia, I knew this because it's covered in snow and it is far away from the equator.(Jack)

Australia is a large continent on its own.(Ayla)

South Africa- I knew it was there because its at the south of the world.(Joe)

Greenland is at the top of the world due to the fact that it is very icy.(Joe)

Polar bears  are in Greenland not in the Antartic.(Joe)

England is close to Ireland. The Great Wall of China is in the north of China. The capital city of China is Beijing.  (Nathan)

Iran has snowy moutains and mosques where people go to pray. Oil is found in Iran. (Millie)

The capital city of Norway is Oslo. The capital of Mongolia is Ulan-Bator. In Alaska bears hunt fish. Alaska is also very, very cold. (Rhianna)

The capital city of Morocco is Rabat. In Morocco people have to wear scarfs on their heads to keep them safe from the sun because it is very hot. (Kiki)

Saudi Arabia is in the Middle East. When Muslims pray they face Mecca. Oil comes from Saudi Arabia (Kieran)


The capital of New Zealand Is Wellington . The New Zealand rugby team is called the All Blacks (Zak)

Taiwan is an Island off the coast of China. A lot of computers come from Taiwan. (Mollie)

Canada's capital city is Vancover. (Regan)
