Making Scientific Observations

In Year 4 we are working hard to think about how Scientists make careful observations. Here are some of the examples of what we thought of:

Chemists - make observations about new medicines to see which has effect and will make people better.

Sonographer - taking scans of inside the body, for example a new baby growing. Sonographers check that the baby is growing well.

Radiographer - takes x-rays to see if bones are healing. Year 4 are creating their own x-ray images in Science week this week (see above to see some work from Mrs Spray's class).

Meteorologist - makes observations about the weather and the changes in the climate. Pattern seeking is a key part of making observations, and warm temperatures help us to choose a good place to go on holiday!

Astronauts - carry out observations to see how things are different in space to on Earth, for example, growing different plants.
