Non Fiction Text Time

In Guided Reading today we looked at some non- fiction books. We all selected a book from the library of a subject we were interested in, then looked at some of the features of these text types.

We used a magnifying class as were being reading detectives and each couple found the following features-headings, sub headings, table of contents, paragraphs, captions and illustrations, labels and the glossary. We took the books home to closely examine them more and furthermore enjoy reading them.

 After looking at the books we got into groups; children who mainly prefer reading non- fiction material, compared to those who prefer to read fiction.
