A visit from a Beekeeper

Year 4 had a really exciting day yesterday having a visit from a Beekeeper.

We learnt so much for our Science topic about bees including:
  • how long bees live for
  • where bees originally come from
  • different types of bees including the Queen bee
  • why the Queen bee is important and what happen if she died
  • why bees swarm
  • where a bee's habitat is
  • where bees store honey and how honey is made.

We also learnt why bees are so important and how we can help bees. A child in 4T said: it is a simple as planting some wild flowers and having a bowl of water.

We ended the morning tasting some local honey which was delicious. Well done to all of 4T for tasting honey, especially if you hadn't tried it before!

Ask your child at home to share some facts about bees with you.
